Élodie sat at the edge of one of the many streams that filtered from the grander lake settled beneath the crashing falls to the north. Gentle currents licked at the stones which littered the banks beneath her paws as the only disturbance offered was the way dark nails turned them over as she waited for the one who had been called here. It was fitting, was it not, to call for the Sovereign’s attention here within the proclaimed heart of Kho’gate. Life blood of the isles running through the currents that let their reach be known far to the brinks of the ocean as it showered from the mountains reigning over them all.

The she-wolf had grown up on the stories filtered from her grandmother’s tongue of the world that waited beyond the shores of the home that she knew as the young sage had been taken for a more sheltered living than one may have assumed. Though as interest grew, a need to do more with herself bloomed, the fire tipped woman held tight to that desire to solve the mysteries that needed uncovered passed the unexplored borders.

So it was here at the banks that she wait for the other maned woman’s arrival. It was neither a necessity nor an important key for the journey but to receive the Sovereign’s blessing to do what she must would grant the reassurance to the sage that the right decisions were being made. Deep down it was known that this pilgrimage to the unknown was a journey she needed to take, for more reasons than one, but there was an aspect of discovery that needed to unfold within the still blooming witch whose hands were never busy enough.

Without her grandmother’s tongue to serve as guidance to further her studies Élodie knew the only way to make progression was to seek the information that the elder’s here on the isle could not give her. There were things even they or the spirits who spoke back would never know or readily offer should one lack the experiences to fully understand. And it was without that flare that Élodie sought to strengthen it where it dared dim. To keep it alive, to keep herself well, that is why she needs this. Not only would it give the woman what she needed for progression but, in the end, it would aid in those she cared about in the land that was known as home.

There was still much to do in preparation for her departure to those distant shores. While she still held at least a week’s time from now to gather supplies a heart still beat aflutter for there was no telling just how these little visits would turn out. With the Dorsum king she held no qualms, if Ayita had seen fit to make bonds with him in the past there was hope that he would continue to see the benefit of working together. The security of paths intertwining, of ties secured as it would bring about the comforts of loyalty of aid should it be needed. And yet it was the mystery of the Eximius which weighed heavily upon her.

No contact made with their crown ruler as of yet, a task that she had regrettably held off on. But with them there was hesitations. Their power had shifted into hands unknown though all she knew for certain was that Sullivan no longer held the reigns. Snorted breath pushed from her muzzle as the maned wolf shook such thoughts away. There was no need to be cautious toward those beasts for theirs was a companionship and respect earned. Even if it turned out to be a fleeting notion, a gesture spat upon, a complete waste of her time. It still needed to be done. Arrangements needed to be inquired about though no matter the necessity of it all confliction still burned bright.

Whatever the results, she would send a letter by nightfall. Surely there would be one eager or mobile enough amongst them to begin the journey of such a calling card. Though she could not worry over potentials nor allow them to consume her. The land of wolves needed to be rebuilt, their numbers seeming to forever dwindle despite all the fallen queen had done for them. Ears flicked back as the woman plagued her thoughts would she be proud or ashamed of what her Apostle had become? It would take practice for the warrior to bear a weight another seemed to hold so easily and she could only hope that this was a step in the right direction.

Another had sought her ear, for what purpose she could not be certain yet it seemed of a great importance to the other as paws carried the russet wolf over the mixed grasses of the jungle. The lure of flowing streams guiding her path until it shifted into a steady roar. Majesty of the falls gracing any who looked upon them and yet this day she did not seek them out but rather the form of one who lingered beside their hopeful embrace. Lips curved lightly as her eyes held upon the ashen woman, “Élodie, is there something troubling you?” Or had she merely called out for the company of another.

Insects let their cries rise into the songs of nature as it melded all around the she-wolf who sat stalled upon the softened earth upon the bank. Reflection of all to occur within the place known as home since she was young played within her mind. Remembrance to the way small paws found themselves falling into the oversized divot created by each step her grandmother had taken. Teachings held close to heart as Élodie memorized many of the same herbal remedies that had been found and passed on from the now lost woman’s paws. An aged creature finding herself embraced by the stars to dance with the old Gods who had also taken to their kingdoms which waited for the worthy to join them. Still the blue faded wolf let her crown dip as if to study her reflection and seek out the similarities she held with the one who had more or less raised her.

A task that did not get far as it was the approaching footfalls of another that was quick to cause Élodie’s crown to turn back over a darkly cloaked shoulder. Magenta gaze falling upon the Sovereign’s features that came closer with each step as a friendly greeting was found in the way dark lips pulled across her maw, questioning if anything was wrong. Did something trouble her? It only took a moment for the fire tipped dire to ponder that inquiry, “Troubling? It matters only how one looks upon it.” Slowly a sigh pushes from her peach toned nose as eyelids come to cloak that gaze as it falls away back towards the jungle which surrounds them, leaves must like the hair of her pelt billowing in the gust that comes to cross them.

“Neither does it ail nor ache,” physical troubles cast aside for they held no cause to the need of seeking out the other woman’s company. “Yet plagues the spirit, hinders that growth,” lyrics lifting as if it would be understood just what was meant by such things. Though nothing stops the way she emphasis the point as limbs push up and Élodie turns to fully face the company who has come to her calling. A narrow snout lifting high though eyes remained soft as they looked towards the one who had taken the crown. “Many things I must do and learn, they wait out of reach. Progress that gives an uplifting beat to a drum tempo that has grown stale.” It was then that her crown shook before it dipped slightly, “I seek no permissions,” for a mind had already been made up and even with disapproval riding at her back it was something she must do. “But blessings for coming travels is what I need.”

Rotation found her then as sights pointed out towards the distant seas that crashed in waves upon their shores. From where they currently stood it was out of sight and earshot though each of them knew quite well just what wait outside of the jungle’s embrace. “Much I need know waits off these coasts. Information guarded by the specters of another nation though I must go to find what is missing.” To know every detail, to fill in the blanks to the stories that needed an end, all of it could be found somewhere within the writings left behind by her grandmother’s hand tucked safe within a journal. A leather bound book that would be kept safe, kept close, within a satchel slung over the shoulder of a wolf who wore the face of a woman upon the shores and in the company of strangers.

An approach is hardly masked as paws fell against the earth in even tempo, and while the other appeared to busy herself with the rippling waters below there must have been purpose to calling her here. Whatever so entranced the woman was readily cast aside in the sudden shift of focus for no longer did that vibrant stare linger upon the cooling embrace of the streams. Instead it found her with a gentle tilt of her crown and steady sigh. A short silence overtaking her in those moments yet when lips finally did part it does not bring the Sovereign true comfort. While Nyala hoped troubling matters did not weigh so heavily upon the fire marked woman her own tongue is held silent until Élodie is able to elaborate further.

Slow steadying breath all that leaves the fanged one as focus holds upon the sage, content to listen and wait until she bore witness to all that must race through thoughts so different from her own. And with all she spoke of it seemed she had debated a great deal upon this before seeking her out. Whatever she wished to find, to learn of, rested across the great expanse of the ocean. Her own fiery gaze chasing after those of magenta to linger upon what lay out of sight. Resting in silence until a softness etched across her features as russet crown turned to linger fully upon the ashen dire.

“Mine are not be permissions needed for your travels,” she knew this and yet it stole a weight off the Sovereign’s chest that she would at least think to tell her of hopeful departure, “but know you have my blessing Élodie. There is much to see outside of our home and I hope you find what you are looking for.” It would be a difficult task, of this she was certain. Nyala had seen her fair share and experienced the dangers that lurked out of sight upon those distant shores. Yet deep down that longing still burned even as it lay dimmer than before and it is in that brief passing wonder that a perhaps foolish idea laces her thoughts. Ask if another wished to accompany her, to travel at her side upon the furthest reaches of this world and each of its realms.

She held uncertainty on if such company would be a hindrance on either of their journeys and yet she cannot help but to at least issue it as an offer. It would provide transport, a place to stay should she so desire it. And while Nyala would no doubt be absent and the other granted her obvious freedoms even temporary companionship would lessen the burden. Be rid of the loneliness that was sure to rise in the company of those truly unfamiliar, “If you would like to come along or are at least in need of transport, I have business to attend to outside of Kho’gate and I’m certain you would be a welcome addition to the voyage.” Curled tail gave a short wave as warm smile painted her visage, “It is not for a weeks’ time yet so there is opportunity to think it over if you need but an offer will remain open until I leave this isle.” There was hope Élodie would accept and yet she would not fault the woman should she decline, prefer to forge her own path within the unknown.
